Steps Motorists Must Take After Moving to New Jersey

There is so much more to a move than just relocating your possessions to a new residence. There are many different services and small, but important, details that you will need to update once you have arrived in New Jersey. Updating your driver's license to that of a New Jersey license is just one of those details.

Fortunately, New Jersey's Motor Vehicle Commission has set up an easy-to-use website dedicated to helping new residents transfer their out-of-state licenses. Check out the site here. The site takes you through the steps necessary for getting a new license, a CDL or a GDL.

In addition to getting a New Jersey license, new residents will need to transfer their vehicle title within 60 days of moving. The Motor Vehicle Commission website also spells out this process for vehicle owners and those who lease. Drivers will also need to register their vehicle and pick up new plates for their automobile(s). Once your vehicle has been registered, you will then have 14 days to register it.

The site also lists the traffic rules of New Jersey as you wouldn't want to get caught being uncertain of speed limits and important safety regulations.

JD Carton is the New Jersey moving company who works hard to ensure that your New Jersey relocation is a smooth process. From moving your belongings, to helping you get situated in your new locale, we're the movers who care.
