Packing for Your Move

As a full service moving company, we give you the option of having us pack your belongings in order to ensure a worry-free and damage-free move. However, if you choose to pack your own boxes, there are a few pieces of advice we can give you:

Use proper packing supplies - while it may be tempting to cut corners in the quality or integrity of some of your supplies, like using boxes that weren't designed for the purpose of moving, it will pay off for you in the long run. Imagine if the bottom dropped out of one of those boxes because you packed it with more weight than it was designed for - you may break some valuables that are worth much more than a proper box would have been. Another related tip is to put heavier items in smaller boxes to help maintain the integrity of the boxes and to make it easier to carry them.

It's also a good idea to take the knobs or feet off of furniture. This will help you get the items through doorways and tight spaces easier, and if you have all the feet in one place you'll make sure that you don't lose them.

And of course, plan ahead for the next few days after your move. Make a list of all the things and clothes you will need and put them in a separate box that will be more easily accessible for you. You might not have time to unpack all of your things right away, so it will be a big time-saver if the things you need for the first few days are all in one place.

From your local New Jersey movers, good luck!

Interstate Moving

Today we'd like to remind you that a moving company does more than just local moves. We handle interstate moving as well. So if you're moving across the border from New Jersey to New York or across the country all the way to Los Angeles, we can take care of the whole interstate moving process for you. In fact, we have been an interstate moving company for so long that we have accumulated a number of case studies to detail the challenges we often face while doing an out of state move and the ways in which we address these challenges. Check out our website to read more about the interstate moving experience with J.D. Carton & Son!

End of School Year Moving in New Jersey

You may not realize it yet but the end of the school year in New Jersey is coming up and will be here sooner than you think. If you're a parent, this can mean a lot of things to you and you no doubt are aware of what they are. Maybe one of your kids is going off to college and you'd like to move to a different house so that you don't have an empty bedroom. Or maybe one of your kids is starting high school and you'd prefer to live in a better school district. Whatever the reasons, many people find that moving right after the school year ends is the best time to relocate.

And that means that movers of all types, from small to large moving companies, are going to be very busy during the summer months. That's why it's a good idea to book your move as early as possible. Start planning your moving day right now in the beginning of March, because May and June are just around the corner. Your movers will appreciate that you booked in advance and will make sure that they have assigned all the necessary resources to handle your move. This will be a huge advantage for you when other people start calling in and trying to book their moves last minute, since you'll already be penciled in for that spot. It'll be easier for both you and your moving company, and in the end, the most stress free and efficient moving day possible is everyone's goal.

Morristown Movers

As New Jersey movers, we service a large portion of the state that includes several counties and many cities. From Bernardsville to Union to West Orange, we are always in the area helping the good people of New Jersey move to new homes, to new cities, to new states and beyond. Many people know us primarily as Parsippany movers since that's where our facility is located, but really we're not just limited to our home base. We're Morristown movers, we're Chatham movers, we're Union County movers and any other kind of movers you want to call us. That's what being a full service moving company is all about - the ability to perform any kind of move anywhere in our service area.

No matter which town you live in, we can always store your belongings in our secure storage facility. Or if you don't need to store anything, we can help you pack and unpack your goods and even disassemble and reassemble your furniture to reduce the risk of damaging it during the move. Of course, you probably know that no Morristown movers are actually full-service unless they do commercial moving too. So if you are moving your business or even just an office, JD Carton can help you make the process painless and stress-free.
